A Letter from Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert
Interestingly enough, I graduated from the high school where House Speaker Dennis Hastert was a teacher and coach (Coincidentally, I happened to be a transfer student from the same high school that Hastert himself attended). Since he is now the third highest-ranking official in government, I figured that he would be a good person to talk to about my ideas for Social Security reform.
Despite several e-mails, phone calls, and visits to his office, I was unable to get in direct contact with Speaker Hastert, and the following letter is the only response that I have received from him. While I am somewhat disappointed by the lack of a genuine reply, I realize that Speaker Hastert is an extremely busy person, and he probably does not have the time to read my report. Judging by the content of his letter, it seems that he might be open to some of my ideas. Nevertheless, I did not wish to become a nuisance, so I stopped trying to contact him.
